Andaz Prague is a luxury lifestyle hotel nestled in the iconic Sugar Palace in the heart of Prague’s historic center. We used our Chase/Hyatt points to book a 4-night stay at this hotel.

Andaz Prague Reception & Check-in

There is a long, brightly lit hallway towards the reception

There was a nice welcome from the front desk agent and immediate Globalist recognition. The agent apologized for not giving us a suite upgrade due to them being completely booked and offered us a standard room with a balcony. She also arranged for a suite upgrade for the last two-night stay at the hotel. It was nice to see the hotel staff be considerate about Globalist suite upgrades instead of us reminding them at the time of check-in.

Standard Room with Balcony

The welcome dessert assortment was made with lion head symbols.

Andaz Suite

We were moved to the Andaz Suite for the last two nights of our stay and it was very spacious and contained beautiful decor.

In several hotels, suites simply add a separate living room space without changing too much in design, but we were glad to see almost everything is unique at the Andaz Suite with a nice appeal (see images below).

Annoying Room Temperature Lock

The controls on the thermostat were locked at the lowest setting of 20°C (see image below). However, the hotel management was able to quickly lower it remotely to 16°C after we requested over the phone.

Wi-Fi Speed

I was happy to see a good internet speed after the recent disastrous experience at the Park Hyatt Chicago (review).

Breakfast

As a Globalist benefit, in-room free breakfast was offered to us, but we chose to go down to the main breakfast serving area.

We loved the little cups of butter that spread very easily on the bread

The taste of the multi-grain bread was out of this world.

The check was brought in a small enclosed box.

It has been a long time since we enjoyed the entire breakfast served at a Hyatt property (e.g., eggs, bread, toast, fruits and desserts). Andaz Prague serves a tasty breakfast along with matching fast customer service despite how busy they are in the morning hours.

Free cocktails between 5-6PM at the Lounge Bar

Andaz Prague has an interesting concept of giving away one alcoholic beverage free per person between 5 to 6pm at the lounge bar. You have to smell 3 perfume bottles and choose your favorite and the bar tender will make a drink based on the exact ingredients.

The three perfumes we were offered on that day

Our drinks were based on Genesis & Pardiso perfumes

Free drink at the hotel bar when you skip room cleaning

The hotel has a cool feature that I have never seen before where they offer a free drink at the bar when you skip room cleaning. We almost never get our rooms cleaned during our stay and it was interesting to see getting rewarded for doing that.

Sauna & Fitness Center

There is a 24-hour fitness center, equipped with Technogym equipment and free weights along with a dry sauna (see images below). The Fitness Center also suffers from a lack of more aggressive air conditioning and could use a fan for guests planning on an intensive work out.

Old Town Square

Andaz Prague is within a short walking distance of the Old Town Square with lots of dining and high-end designer shops.

Nearby Dining

There is a Thai restaurant within 50 feet from the hotel called FAME PRAGUE (link) and we enjoyed dining there twice during our stay.

Kai Phad Kra-Prao was perfectly made at this restaurant.

Conclusions

Andaz Prague is the best hotel in the city to stay at with points and enjoy everything Prague has to offer. The architecture of the hotel must be seen in person to be believed and the customer service is spectacular. Breakfast at the hotel is wonderful and the free evening cocktail hour (with matching perfume ingredients) is a lot of fun.

The only negative thing I can think of is the need to call the front desk to lower the air conditioning below 20°C for all rooms including suites and fitness center (which is not a 5-star hotel feature).
