Istanbul Airport (IST) welcomes millions of passengers every year and it is really hard to have a stress-free airport experience in this crowded environment. However, passengers flying in Turkish Airlines premium cabins can make their experience more enjoyable with fast-track privileges (fast security screening, passport control, lounge etc.).
While most major European airports have fast-track security screening for business & first class passengers, it is still rare to find fast-track border control. I wrote about the Star Alliance Gold Track Immigration program in an earlier post (link). However, several airports equipped with this program typically also allow other passengers with premium cabins booked using other alliances (e.g., One World and Sky Team).
Will all premium cabin passengers have access to fast-track border control at IST airport?
Yes. The fast-track border control at Istanbul International Airport (IST) is open to all business or first class passengers. However, your chances of accessing the fast-track are highest when flying Turkish Airways business class.
Does IST airport allow economy & premium economy passengers with Star Alliance Gold status to use Fast-track border control?
Yes. If you hold Star Alliance Gold status with any member airline (see image below), you are typically entitled to use the Fast Track lanes. However, I have seen customer service at the fast-track counter turn away certain passengers without business or first class tickets despite having Star Alliance Gold status.

Where is the fast-track border control located?

Please refer to the Turkish Airlines frequently asked questions page (link).
Fast Track Entry Locations:
- At the Terminal entrance: Our Business Class passengers and Elite, Elite Plus, Turkish Airlines Corporate Club and Star Gold cardholders travelling abroad may use the International Flights Fast Track Gate to enter the departure level at the terminal entrance.
- At Passport Control Zone: Our Business Class passengers and Elite, Elite Plus, Turkish Airlines Corporate Club and Star Gold cardholders will use six passport counters located at the end of the zone and security check points (X-Rays) No. 1, 2, 3, 4.
- Domestic Transfer Point: For our Business Class passengers, Elite, Elite Plus, Turkish Airlines Corporate Club and Star Gold cardholders, transfer passengers arriving with a Turkish Airlines domestic flight and continuing their travels with another international flight, one passport counter and one security check point (X-Ray) are available at the Domestic Transfer Point.
- At the International Transfer Point: For our Business, Elite, Elite Plus, Turkish Airlines Corporate Club and Star Gold cardholders, transfer passengers arriving with a Turkish Airlines international flight and continuing their travels also with an international flight, 3 security check points (X-Ray) are allocated at the Domestic Transfer Point.
We used the fast-track border control at terminal 3 of IST airport, which is not well advertised and located soon after the long lines at traditional border control for all the non-Turkish passport holders.
Does fast-track border control really save time?
Absolutely yes. It literally took us less than one minute to clear the immigration via the fast-track and I completely agree with the picture below I borrowed from the Fast Track Package Service offered at the IST airport.

Our Istanbul to Boston A350-1000 Business Class Flight Experience
We hadn’t been to Istanbul in over 8 years and we noticed the new business class cabins on our A350-1000 flight to be very comfortable and as usual the dining experience on Turkish Airways is fantastic (see images below). The placement of the dining tray and charging station was perfect and the bedding was comfortable.

Conclusion
Istanbul International Airport Passport Control Fast Track access for passengers traveling in premium cabins provides efficient and quick immigration processing, ensuring a seamless passage for visitors. Dedicated passport control priority lanes are available for both arriving and departing passengers.
