JAL First Class offers a fantastic flying experience with miles and points, and it is difficult to find two available seats even when booking a year in advance with partner programs. While 110K JAL miles can typically be used to book First Class a year in advance, it is not always the case. However, the availability is only on the ORD-HND route, which features Boeing 777-300 instead of the newer A-350 cabins.

I was looking for two premium cabin bookings for my friends who are planning to travel to Japan in June 2027, and came across Asia Miles availability for JAL First Class for the May 2nd half of 2027 (see images below).

What about JAL Mileage Club availability for the same period?

I was only able to find a bunch of “waitlisted” First Class flights on the JAL Mileage Club booking page (see image below).

What about booking from other Partner Programs?

The only other JAL partner program that opens award space a year ahead of time is Qantas, but you will end up paying more miles (see image below).

Conclusion

I recommend that readers who have a stash of Asia Miles or transferable points (MR, TY, Capital One, or Bilt) look at booking JAL First Class for two passengers to Japan in early summer 2027. Asia Miles has more transfer partners compared to JAL Mileage Club and can come in handy for booking premium cabins from time to time.
