Park Hyatt New York is a 5-star hotel in Midtown Manhattan, located directly across from Carnegie Hall within a 10-minute walk from Central Park and Broadway. The cash prices for this luxury hotel are $600-1000 per night and it can be booked with Hyatt points (category 8).

Booking

I used one of my soon-to-expire Hyatt category 1-7 certificates to book Park Hyatt NY, one week before Hyatt changed the categories (7 to 8) for this hotel. We stayed just for one night before our Europe trip and wanted to experience this luxury hotel with a free night certificate.

Park Hyatt New York Check-in

We arrived at the hotel from the airport around 11 am and requested an early check-in. Since none of the suites were ready, we were assigned a King Bed with a City View and we were given the option to change to the suite later in the day. We decided not to change the rooms as the room was already perfect and did not want to give any extra work to the cleaning crew.

Gym & Pool Area

Park Hyatt New York has one of the best-equipped gyms I have ever seen and much better than several other Park Hyatt’s I have visited. There is a heated pool with a separate section for doing laps along with a large hot tub.

Breakfast

Breakfast would have been expensive if not for my Globalist status and it was served after ordering from the menu. It was not clear if the tip was included (not stamped on the receipt) and even though we left a tip, the final hotel bill did not show that it was charged.

Summary

Park Hyatt New York is expensive to book with either cash or Hyatt points, but it is one of the best ways to stay in the heart of NY city. Due to the unfortunate change in the Hyatt category, it costs anywhere between 35-45K points to book this hotel. We are all hoping for Hyatt to adjust the Globalist free night certificate to include category 8, but so far this has not happened. Hyatt points are easy to earn compared to other hotel points (thanks to Chase) and travelers can make a dream trip to NY come true with some planning.
