Ashikaga Flower Park spans over 94,000 square meters and is located in Ashikaga city of Tochigi Prefecture. Japan’s wisteria season is from mid-April to mid-May, closely following the cherry blossoms and Ashikaga Flower Park is home to over 360 wisteria trees (some are 160 years old). The two Great Wisteria trees inside the park are absolute showstoppers covering 1,000 square meters with over 80,000 individual flowers.
Award booking flights from the US to Tokyo
The best way to book guaranteed business class flights to Tokyo is to use Asia miles and reserve JAL flights up to 360 days ahead of time (https://awardcracker.com/the-few-remaining-asia-miles-sweetspots/). It will cost around $600 in taxes for roundtrip, but you have a choice to pick your outbound flight on a Friday and inbound flight on a Sunday.
Other mileage programs (AA & Alaska) will save you miles and money on taxes, but you are limited to fewer flights by the time they allow flight bookings (~330 days ahead of time).
Award booking Tokyo hotels
Tokyo has several hotels from different chains that can be booked with points. We stayed at Andaz Tokyo Toranomon hills during our last visit to Tokyo.

From Shimbashi station, we took the Tokaldo Line to Oyama Station and transferred via the Ryomo Line and got off at the Ashikaga Flower Park Station. The train journey can take 2-3 hours, depending on the time of day.
Ashikaga Flower Park Scenery
Conclusion
Ashikaga Flower Park contains enigmatic fairytale-like scenery which is absolutely worth visiting as a day trip from Tokyo. Travelers must see the night time display of the Ashikaga Flower Park during the festival. It is possible to combine the wisteria flower viewing in early May with late cherry blossoms in Hokkaido in a single trip.
