Bali is the most popular island vacation destination in Indonesia and the best time to visit is between April and October during the dry season. Bali is the only Hindu-majority (nearly 90%) province in Indonesia and is home to several temples. Bali is known for its beaches (e.g., Kuta, Nusa Dua and Seminyak) and picturesque rice terraces (e.g., Ubud).

Award booking flights to Bali with points

Denpasar International Airport (DPS) is the main international airport of Bali with nonstop flights from the Middle East and Turkey.

The U.S. has no direct flights to Bali, but Turkish airlines business class award bookings can be done through Star Alliance partners (e.g., Aeroplan).

Aeroplan

Qatar Q-Suites

For the ultimate experience, I recommend booking the Qatar Q-Suites from the US to Bali via Doha 360 days ahead of travel (review).

KrisFlyer Miles

Using KrisFlyer miles to book Singapore airlines will cost more in miles, but can be booked 355 days ahead of time to reach Bali (not all award space is shared with Aeroplan).

Bali Accommodation with points

Hyatt

Hyatt has a few properties in Bali that can be booked with very few Chase/Hyatt points.

Hilton

Hilton has several hotels in Bali (including SLH) that can be booked with Amex/Hilton points for a free 5th night. During our last trip we stayed one night at the Hilton Garden Inn airport hotel for 10K points a night and Conrad Hilton for the reminder of the stay. Conrad Hilton recognized our Diamond status and gave us a suite upgrade along with lounge access which serves the best evening snacks and cocktails.

IHG

IHG has 14 properties in Bali, varying from Holiday Inn and Intercontinental along with Sixth Senses. Travelers can enjoy a 4th night free, when booked with points.

Conclusion

Bali can be visited with minimal expense by planning your trip early and booking your flights and hotels with points.
