Iberia business class is a wonderful way to travel to Europe and opens up award space (for two passengers) 360 days ahead of time. I was looking up award availability for November 2025 for some friends and it is wide open for US East Coast cities like JFK, Chicago, Miami, Dallas and Boston. Booking these awards with Iberia Avios will only cost 34,000 to 42,500 points and the highest requirement is for the Miami flights (see images below).
Is November a good time to travel to Spain?
November is a great time to travel to Spain as you get to enjoy the cooler temperatures and fewer tourists.
How do I get Iberia Avios?
Iberia is a direct transfer partner for Amex & Chase points, which is the easiest way to move and book these flights. If you have different credit card points from Citi or Capital One, you’ll need to first move them to a different Avios currency and then transfer to Iberia (review).
How easy is it to cancel Iberia award flights?
Iberia’s US Customer Service line (800-772-4642) can be reached relatively quickly, but it may take several attempts to successfully cancel the award flights and reinstate the Avios. I had better luck after calling the Spanish Avios Customer Service line (+34 900 211 214) and speaking to someone in Malaga who reinstated my miles instantly. I highly recommend reaching out to them via Google Voice or Skype, if you are unsuccessful to get your Avios reinstated.
Can I transfer Iberia Avios to British?
Iberia has a 90-day account activity rule (review) that must be fulfilled before you are able to transfer Avios to other programs.
Can I simply use British Avios to book Iberia flights?
British Avios are easy to get reinstated online in the case of an award booking cancellation and you can use them to book Iberia flights for the same amount of taxes. However, British Airways only opens bookings 355 days ahead, compared to 360 days for Iberia. Five days difference may not seem like much, but business class seats during peak season or weekends can be snatched up by travelers (like me) that tend to plan their trips 1 year ahead of time.
Conclusion
I have enjoyed Iberia business class on both shorter (US to Madrid) and longer trips like Madrid to Buenos Aires (review). It is a blessing that Iberia kept the same award calendar during and after the Covid pandemic. I encourage readers to make use of this opportunity by planning their travel one year ahead.
