Meteora (which means ‘hovering in the air’) is a natural landmark located in northwestern Greece. Meteora rock formations occurred after millions of years of seismic activity, erosion, and corrosion. Meteora was first settled by monks around the 11th century and the first monastery (Great Meteoron) was constructed in the 13th century. A total of 24 monasteries were built, but only 6 monasteries are remaining today that can be visited.

Meteora Entrance Fee

The entrance fee to the monasteries in Meteora is 3 euros per person (free for children under 12). The monasteries have a strict dress code for men (no shorts & sleeveless tops) and women (knees & shoulders must be covered). Most monasteries allow borrowing of skirts and shawls to cover these areas at the entrance.

You can easily find Emirates award space for two business class seats from New Jersey (EWR) to Athens (ATH) and book for 87K points and low taxes of $106 (see image below). Emirates is a transfer partner of all major credit card companies.
