Can you use CAT 1-4 & CAT 1-7 certificates to book all-inclusive resorts?

Officially, both the CAT 1-4 and CAT 1-7 certificates are excluded from being used to book all-inclusive hotel collections. You cannot use them online or by calling Hyatt customer service, including the Globalist line.

Work-around to use CAT 1-7 certificate outside the US

You must call your Hyatt concierge line to see if it is possible to use the CAT 1-7 certificate to book the all-inclusive resort you are interested in. For example, I called my concierge and verified that my CAT 1-7 certificate could be used to book the wonderful Secrets Bahia Real Resort (review). There are no set rules for the range of all-inclusive categories (e.g., A-E) that are eligible for use with a CAT 1-7 certificate. You can give the concierge a list of names of all-inclusive overseas properties and they will pull each one up and let you know if a CAT 1-7 certificate can be attached to the reservation.

Can a CAT 1-4 certificate be used to book an all-inclusive property in the same way?

Until recently, the Hyatt Concierge was able to apply CAT 1-4 certificates to book low-priced, all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. However, according to the concierge, it is no longer possible to use the CAT 1-4 certificates to book these overseas all-inclusive properties outside the US.

Can you use Hyatt Suite Upgrade Awards (SUA’s) at all-inclusive properties?

Yes. You can use your SUA’s at all-inclusive properties, but the same rules apply (DO NOT CALL the globalist line and just call your Hyatt concierge line). There are several data points on this for all-inclusive properties like Secrets Impression Isla Mujeres.

AMR and several other all-inclusive resorts are no longer releasing their suite availability calendar to Hyatt Concierge and you should ask them to call the property to inquire and apply for the SUA. Many concierge agents are not aware of this issue and I was able to politely request that they call the property while placing me on hold (make sure to call concierge during the all-inclusive resort working hours).

Conclusion

Hyatt CAT 1-7 certificates can be used to book a night at select premium all-inclusive international resorts, along with SUA’s to reserve select suites by calling your Globalist concierge line.
