Aeroplan is one of the most valuable award flight booking programs for Star Alliance and Emirates redemptions. I recently got approved for Chase Aeroplan credit card, which has the following useful benefits:

  • 3x Aeroplan points on dining purchases globally.
  • 3x Aeroplan points on grocery store purchases globally.
  • Pay Yourself Back” feature (I never want to cash points).
  • $100 every 4 years Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS credit.
  • Overseas primary auto rental insurance (secondary coverage in the US).
  • Aeroplan Elite 25K status for one year (not much use for me).
  • Get a one-tier status upgrade (e.g., 35K status) after spending $50,000 on the card in a calendar year. Aeroplan 50K gives you Star Alliance Gold status.
  • Additional bonus of 500 Aeroplan points for every $2000 spending per month (maximum 1,500 points). I like that if we spend 6K every month in grocery stores, we can earn 216,000 Aeroplan points (72K x 3) along with 18,000 bonus points (1500 x 12) per year (234K total).
  • 10% Chase UR points transfer bonus (after transferring 50,000 or more Ultimate Rewards points in a single transaction) that stacks with any additional Aeroplan transfer bonuses offered by Chase.
  • It is important to know that the 10% bonus offered by Aeroplan is a calendar year benefit and resets on January 1st.

Current Chase bonus for Aeroplan

Chase is running the 20% Aeroplan bonus promotion till January 15th 2024 (see image below).

My experience transferring Chase UR points to Aeroplan

I transferred 250,000 UR points since Aeroplan caps the maximum to 25,000 bonus points per calendar year.

Aeroplan Account

Aeroplan showed the transferred UR points immediately.

Email Confirmation of 10% bonus

I got an email confirmation from Aeroplan confirming the 10% bonus, which may take up to 7 days.

Aeroplan 10% UR Points bonus calendar benefit

Double Dip in January to stack on 20% UR points bonus

My plan is to transfer another 50-250K UR points before January 15th to take advantage of this 30% total bonus to Aeroplan.

Conclusion

Aeroplan points are incredibly useful and the best way to book premium cabins on Singapore and Emirates flights. You will never have enough Aeroplan points in your account and I am excited to see Chase’s transfer bonus extending into the middle of January 2024.
