My Booking Summary

It is important to remember that there are additional costs involved to get to the Fronalpstock Hotel & Restaurant (parking, funicular and chairlift fees).

How to get to the Fronalpstock Hotel & Restaurant?
- Make sure to travel light, since you’ll have to drag your luggage up a rocky path for 10-15 minutes each way.
- I recommend back-pack only if you are staying for one night (leave your suitcases in the rental car at the parking garage) or carry-on only if you are staying more than one night.
- Be prepared to arrive at Stoosbahn station before 3.00pm on the day of checking into the hotel, since the last chairlift closes at 4.00pm.
- Zurich Airport is 34 mi from the property and you can choose to either drive or take a train to Stoos (Stoosbahn) station.
- If you are driving a rental car, park in the Stoosbahn garage and get a ticket (14 CHF per day).
- Go to the funicular ticket counter and tell them how many nights you are staying at the Fronalpstock Hotel and the agent will get you a discounted 2 or 3 day multiple entry pass. We stayed for two nights and the 3-day multiple entry pass cost us 55 CHF (110 CHF for 2 = $140USD).
- Once you get off the funicular, you must walk (dragging the luggage) about 10 minutes to the Fronalpstock chairlift station.
- You may have to take two chairlifts to get to Fronalpstock.
- Your luggage will be placed in the chairlifts behind you, which you must collect before going on to the next chairlift.
- The hotel is located directly next to the chairlift station at the top of the mountain.
Double Room with Balcony
Our double room with balcony was of a decent size with a double bed, side tables, pullout couch, tea kettle and a large wardrobe. Bathroom is very clean with a shower cube and

Wi-Fi Speed
Wi-Fi speeds were fantastic on this hotel’s open network during my stay (see image below).

Restaurant
Fronalpstock Restaurant serves very good food and booking options include half-board or full-board. Dinner can be either a 3-course or main course only for a lower price.

Effect of clouds/fog/rain on views
It is important to understand the effect of bad weather on the views from this hotel. One of the nights we stayed there, there was a complete fog covering the surrounding mountains with zero visibility.
I highly recommend making a booking with a free cancellation (typically 3 days before arrival), so you can check the weather and cancel the booking as needed.
Fronalpstock Hotel & Restaurant Views on a clear day
I have included mine and some other travelers’ pictures that inspired me to book this hotel.

Conclusion
A stay at the Fronalpstock Hotel & Restaurant requires careful planning due to the funicular/chairlift fees and the need to drag the furniture for 10-15 minutes to get to the chairlifts. However, the views are breathtaking and all your hard work will be worth it in the end.
