During a recent Colorado hiking trip, we stayed in Grand Hyatt Vail for two nights. Grand Hyatt Vail has no self-parking available, and valet parking costs $38 per day. The daily resort fee varies between $35 (during the summer season) and $50 (during the winter). Pet fees are $100 per stay.

How I Booked the Hotel

The typical cash prices for a Standard room in Grand Hyatt Vail range between $400-600 per night and I used 21K Hyatt points per night to book a 2-night stay.

Grand Hyatt Vail Check-in

It was a very easy check-in process and the front desk staff recognized my Globalist status and upgraded our room to a Mountain View Grand Suite (~$1000 per night value).

Mountain View Grand Suite

This is one of the most beautiful, spacious, and well-designed suites with spectacular mountain views, a separate living room, a guest bathroom, and two separate balconies (one from the living room and another from the bedroom). There is plenty of closet space and I could not find any fault with this suite except for the lack of twin sinks in the bathroom.

Breakfast

The breakfast area is large with nice mountain views and contains both a buffet and full-service menu. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy the taste of anything including the scrambled eggs. It could be a one-time thing but at least it was free for being a Globalist.

Gym and Swimming Pool

The Grand Hyatt Vail has a large-sized gym with all the required free weights, ellipticals, and treadmills. The swimming pool is a bit smaller, and it has no dedicated lap lane compared to the one in Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. There is another hot tub area that is small and located next to a busy hiking path (in comparison, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek has 3-4 secluded hot tubs).

Summary

Both the Grand Hyatt Vail and Park Hyatt Beaver Creek are ski-in & ski-out resorts and both have several nearby walking/hiking trails. Both hotels charge daily resort fees (free for points booking) that cover the ski-concierge service (ski valet) and both hotels are within a few yards from the chairlift. I like the Grand Hyatt Vail for its oversized suites, but prefer the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek for a better pool/hot tub/dining experience. Daily valet parking fees are high in both resorts along with an expensive breakfast (Globalists would be delighted). I would love to return to one of these resorts for a future ski trip.
