Hyatt Hotel Booking Globalist Benefits Pros Cons

La Zambra (part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt) is a 5-star hotel located between Málaga and Marbella. This region gets an average of 300 days of sunshine a year and La Zambra has two world-class golf courses making it the ultimate golf destination. La Zambra has been completely renovated (opened in late 2022) with gorgeous Andalusian architecture. La Zambra is a category 5 property (17-23K points) with cash prices between $300-500 based on the season. We used Hyatt points to book 5 nights and we used one of Hyatt suite upgrade certificates to reserve a signature suite. La Zambra is located 17 miles from Malaga (AGP) airport and we rented a car to explore the Costa del Sol and Andolucia region.

La Zambra Grounds and Check-in

La Zambra has valet parking and they provide free water when you leave on day trips. Once you enter the lobby after walking between two water fountains, you will be greeted by several friendly receptionists. After a quick check-in, we explored the hotel grounds to find the restaurants, separate gym area and a beautiful spa with heated indoor pool, sauna and hot tub. The spa requires all guests to obtain a 2-hour appointment for a congestion-free experience, but we never had a problem getting the requested time slot.

Signature Suite

The signature suite has an in-suite living room with two double door openings to a nice terrace overlooking the golf course. There is another large bedroom with a king bed and another opening to the terrace. There are large closets with a beautifully decorated bathroom with separate shower and toilet areas and a small bath tub. The mattress was very comfortable, but pillows were too thin and they were replaced quickly with thicker ones after a phone call to customer service. The hotel provides free bottled water during the morning housekeeping and there is an evening turn-down service as well.

Breakfast & Dining

The daily breakfast in the hotel offered buffet, à la carte or continental options and all the options were free of charge for globalists. The scrambled eggs were delicious and there were extensive fresh fruit options along with several assortments of meats and fresh pastries. We went to several local restaurants for dining and having a rental car was very helpful.

Gym and Swimming Pools

Technogym is in a separate section next to the spa and accessible 24/7 with a key card. There are some free weights and several treadmills along with a large outdoor gymnastics unit. It is not the best equipped gym compared to other Hyatt hotels, but enough for a good workout during vacation.

La Zambra had 2 outdoor swimming pools (not heated) and the spa section contained a separate lap sized heated indoor swimming pool along with a hot tub and a circular pool for kids. The spa area also includes 3 different saunas with different temperatures and steam options. I really enjoyed the relaxing spa and the sauna after hiking or golfing all day.

Mood Spa

The Mood Spa is one of the biggest on the Costa del Sol, with a modern Moorish wet area, 12 treatment rooms, and a dedicated yoga salle. Hotel guests have the option to choose innovative, traditional, or holistic treatments from one of five spa “journeys” (relax, heal, reconnect, vitalize, and glow). Signature treatments include Anne Semonin aromatherapy, Natura Bissé Vitamin C facials, and a massage on a Swaywaver table that rocks and rotates 360 degrees.

Nearby Hikes

We drove 60 minutes from the hotel to do the Caminito Del Rey hike and it was a lot of fun. I highly recommend Marbella visitors to plan ahead and book the tickets in advance for this wonderful hike.

Conclusion

I highly recommend visiting Andalusia region in Spain and also enjoying a few night stay at La Zambra whether you are a golf lover or interested in fine dining and hikes. Globalists have the opportunity to use suite upgrade certificates to confirm the 2nd best suite offered in the property which is not common. The world-class spa is the highlight of this property and the ability to reserve a 2-hour time slot will give guests plenty of time to relax and experience the pool and sauna.
