ANA aircraft

The ANA mileage club has a low season special for booking roundtrip business class flights from US cities to Tokyo for 100,000 points (roundtrip booking required). ANA “The Room” business class is regarded as one of the best business class cabins in the world paired with world-class service.

How to Find ANA Seasonality Charts?

ANA low season vs regular season

  • Any business class roundtrip flight within the confined dates of the “low season” will cost 100K ANA points (“regular” season flights will cost 105K points, which is still a phenomenal deal).

Example Flight Booking

JPY 134,000 = $960 USD

How much are the taxes & fees associated with this award booking?

ANA considerably raised fuel taxes this year (https://awardcracker.com/ana-mileage-club-sweet-spots/) and it will cost ~$1000 USD for the roundtrip booking (which is still cheaper than what you pay for an economy roundtrip flight). We are hoping that ANA will gradually decrease the fuel charges over time. For example, when I booked the flight in 2019, the taxes were only ~$100.

Virgin Atlantic points to booking ANA flights

Virgin Atlantic points can be used to book US to Japan roundtrip ANA business (90-95K points) or first class (110-120K points) flights (one-way booking possible for half the points), but without any additional savings on taxes/fuel fees (Virgin Atlantic will pass-on the taxes charged by ANA).

Virgin Atlantic points are easy to earn and these fixed award rates are NOT affected by the low/normal/high season variation compared to ANA. You have to call Virgin Atlantic customer service to book these awards and the wait times can be up to 45 minutes.

Summary

ANA Business Class (The Room) represents the finest business class experience, and one should use their hard-earned points to make this bucket list flight booking by transferring points to either Virgin Atlantic or ANA mileage club.
