Hyatt Regency Coral Gables is located at Alhambra Plaza, Coral Gables, Miami and is a CAT 3 Hyatt property. I stayed one night and used 15K Hyatt points to book a standard king room at this property.

Hyatt Regency Coral Gables Lobby & Check-in

The building has a two-story marble lobby along with unique antique accents. We were upgraded to a King Bed Deluxe Suite by the front desk staff along with a printed sheet of paper explaining all the amenities of the hotel.

24-hour Marketplace next to the check-in counter

There is a convenient 24-hour marketplace located next to the check-in counter which has several snacks, cold sandwiches, cereal, milk, boiled eggs and fruits.

King Bed Deluxe Suite

The King Bed Deluxe Suite has a striking 15-foot ceiling, Spanish-style windows (with tall curtains) and a small balcony with a city view.

King Bed Deluxe Suite Overall Assessment

  • We noticed several curtain hooks were disconnected (leaking outside light) and they sent maintenance to fix it after a quick call to the front desk.
  • The mattress and pillows were very comfortable without any back/neck pain when we woke up in the morning.
  • There is only a single large vent for the room air conditioning and it only feels cooler when you are in front of it (near the seating area).
  • Shower water flow is weak from the larger shower head and better from the smaller one.
  • There is no bathroom ventilation or exhaust fan (usual with several large hotel chains).

24-hour Fitness Center

The fitness center (7th floor) is spread over two rooms along with a toilet/wash room. Most of the equipment is by Life Fitness and enough to get a good workout with both free weights and resistance. The gym does not have cooled towels like in the the Park Hyatt in New York.

Swimming Pool, Sauna and Hot Tub

The heated outdoor swimming pool is located on the 5th floor which is sized perfectly for several people to swim-in and relax in the lounge chairs.

There were separate single saunas in both men’s and women’s restrooms, but they were locked and have not been in working condition for over a year based on Trip Advisor reviews. There is a hot tub on the right side of the men’s bathroom which looked very clean, but we did not use it.

Breakfast

The breakfast area is beautifully decorated and the buffet area has nice lighting and a food display. We ordered omelets which were done very well and enjoyed fresh cut fruit and cereal from the buffet along with hot tea and cappuccino. As expected, the breakfast was priced high and our bill was over $70 before tips.

My final bill after a single night point-booking stay

I just paid for the few snacks we purchased at the Marketplace and there were no surprises with destination fees or valet parking.

Conclusions

Hyatt Regency Coral Gables is a wonderful place to stay when you visit the Miami area and it is not congested (compared to other Miami region hotels). The entire hotel architecture is very unique and elegant and I would love to stay at this place again.
