Los Glaciares National Park contains some of the best attractions in Argentine Patagonia, which include Perito Moreno Glacier and Mount Fitz Roy.

How I Booked the Flights to Argentina

Buenos Aires has two main airports named Ministro Pistarini (EZE) for international flights and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) for domestic flights.

When I traveled to Argentina in 2020, there were nonstop flights from Orlando to Buenos Aires and I was able to book roundtrip business class for 144K Flying Blue miles and low taxes. Currently, Aerolineas Argentinas only flies from JFK and Miami.

Buenos Aires to El Calafate

After spending a few days in Buenos Aires, take a nonstop flight from either EZE or AEP airports to El Calafate (FTE), which is the main airport serving the Argentine Patagonia.

Can I use Points to book Regional Flights?

You can certainly use Flying Blue miles to book regional flights in Argentina, but I would save them for international redemptions for better value (use points if last-minute flights are overpriced).

El Calafate has some of the best landing views

Perito Moreno Glacier

I recommend staying 2 nights in the town of El Calafate and renting a car for the duration of your visit. It is easy to drive from El Calafate to the Perito Moreno parking lot.

El Chalten

It takes ~3 hours to drive from El Calafate to El Chalten and you will see Mount Fitz Roy from a distance (featured image).

El Chalten Hikes

There are several day hikes/multi-day treks in El Chalten and some of them can be started from the town and others require driving/taking private transportation to the trailheads.

Summary

Los Glaciares National Park has some of the best views of Patagonia and Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the most majestic glaciers I have ever seen (I saw plenty of them in Alaska, Iceland, Chile, Norway, and Antarctica). Most travelers land in El Calafate and immediately head to El Chalten for hiking activities, but I recommend staying 2 nights in town to enjoy a glacier hike and a scenic boat ride. El Chalten is the ultimate destination for hikers with unmatched views of Mount Fitz Roy and glacier lagoons.
