We continued our journey by flying LOT business class from Chicago to Warsaw and a short connection to Prague.
LOT Airlines web/app check-in
LOT Polish Airlines web/app check-in service is awesome and it gives all the digital boarding passes for the main flight and the connecting flights in the Europe. However, LOT Airlines does not participate in the TSA Precheck program and you must use CLEAR Plus to get through the busy Chicago O’Hare airport security screening.
Chicago O’Hare Terminal 5 security screening and lounges
We have never been happier to be members of CLEAR Plus (review) as it got us through the terminal 5 security screening within a few minutes, despite not having the TSA precheck printed on the digital boarding pass.
Chicago’s O’Hare airport typically has terrible Star Alliance and Priority Pass lounges.
We were glad that the Swissport lounge pointed us in the direction of the newly opened LOT business class lounge.
LOT Star Alliance ORD Airport Business Class Lounge
The LOT Business Class lounge at Chicago O’Hare opened in December 2024 and is a welcome addition to the terminal 5 Star Alliance Business Class travelers.
- The lounge is centrally located at the Terminal 5 next to the dining area and close to the security control zone.
- The Business Lounge, covering an area of 617 m², is open daily from morning until late evening (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m).
- Anyone flying a Star Alliance business class flight can get into this lounge (NOT for Priority Pass holders).
- The lounge has floor-to-ceiling glass walls with a view of the airport and a comfortable relaxation area for our passengers.
- Customer service personnel are very friendly with smiling faces (the exact opposite of the Swissport lounge).
- Food is decent and the drinks section/bar is very good.
LOT 5 Business Class Flight from ORD to WAW
Our flight departed at 9.40pm and we just wanted a flat-bed to catch a good night’s sleep on our way to Europe and did not expect much from the LOT Polish Business Class hard product. But were pleasantly surprised by the spacious design and the superb customer service. The extra leg room reminded us of Turkish Airlines business class and it was nice to see they provided slippers (see image below).
We skipped dinner and the staff woke us up for breakfast before we landed at the Warsaw airport.
Conclusion
Both the LOT Airlines Business Class Lounge at Terminal 5 of Chicago O’Hare Airport and their Business Class flight from ORD-WAW offer an awesome overall experience and we would not hesitate to travel this route again. While the business class experience does not compare to that of Emirates, it is perfectly fine for a satisfactory transcontinental flying experience.
