Luma Casa De Montaña is located in the Villa La Angostura (pronounced as “Visha” La Angostura) region of Bariloche. It is a designer hotel (part of myboutiquehotel, com) with unobstructed panoramic views of Nahuel Huapi Lake and offers only 8 exclusive suites (see image below) with elegant interiors with king-size beds, colonial furniture and private verandas with scenic lake views.

The hotel offers a free breakfast buffet and an English-style afternoon tea, with fresh pastries and cakes. Free Wi-Fi (50mbps) and complimentary private parking are also available. For skiing, the hotel is conveniently located only 9 km from Bayo ski resort. Guests can enjoy an after-sport relaxing massage at the wellness spa, or make use of the sauna.

Hotel distance from Bariloche airport

It takes around 60 minutes to drive the distance of 50 miles between the Bariloche international airport and the hotel.

Hotel Booking

We used Booking.com to make the King Suite reservation with a 10% Genius discount. While it is not mentioned on the booking page, breakfast is included in the price.

Luma Casa De Montaña Check-in

We arrived at the hotel around 1pm and parked the rental car after taking a downward slope to the private lot. Our room was ready to be checked in and luggage needed to be carried up one level (no elevator).

King Suite

The Violeta King Suite (without balcony) is very spacious with two large windows, a large bathroom with a tub, shower and two sinks (see images below). There is no air-conditioner in the room, but the hotel staff provided us with a large, powerful table fan that helped us to cool off after long hikes and at night time with windows closed.

The furniture looks great, but it’s not comfortable to sit on for long

There is a great breeze from the lake when you open both the windows.

My wife loved the large hanging curtain over the bed

There is a beautifully painted side wall high up towards the ceiling

The views from the room are unbelievably gorgeous

Wellness Area

There is a large wellness area with seating near a small heated pool (stretching from inside to outside), sauna and there are steps outside leading to the private beach.

The beach is filled with the soothing sounds of waves hitting the rocks

Breakfast

Luma Casa De Montaña serves a basic breakfast with very few options, but you can order fresh eggs cooked in any style. We also enjoyed the fresh, warm croissants they serve with breakfast. There are plenty of tea options throughout the day free of charge.

Luma Casa De Montaña vs Llao Llao Resort

Villa La Angostura is located in the opposite direction of Llao Llao Resort (link) from the airport. Both these hotels are located in the most scenic locations in the world that must be seen to be believed. While Llao Llao Resort is located in an iconic area with a large heated swimming pool, it is a victim of its own success and is quite crowded.

I recommend staying at the Luma Casa De Montaña if you want to enjoy the peace, luxury and personalized service with just eight suites.

Luma Casa De Montaña vs Correntoso Lake & River Hotel

We also stayed last year at the wonderful Correntoso Lake & River Hotel which is located within a few feet from this hotel (link). Prices for a basic room are typically double that compared to the Luma Casa De Montaña suites. While I enjoyed using my Hyatt points at Correntoso Lake & River SLH last year, it is no longer possible and I recommend readers to experience the Luma Casa De Montaña instead of trying to book the other hotel with Hilton points.

Conclusion

Villa La Angostura has several great lake front properties, but none of them have such an open, high up lake & mountain views and low prices when compared to Luma Casa De Montaña. Despite having only 8-suite rooms, the hotel charges astonishingly low prices throughout the season. The hotel architecture is amazing and the customer service is excellent. I can’t think of a better place to stay at Villa La Angostura to enjoy hiking or skiing.
