Mount Fanjing or Fanjingshan (in Chinese means “Buddhist tranquility”) is in the Guizhou province of southwestern China. Mount Fanjingshan has three summits and the highest of the three is the Golden Summit at 2,572 meters above sea level. The Golden summit has two peaks, each with a Buddhist temple and connected by a short bridge.

How to Reach Mount Fanjing

Tongren (TEN) is the nearest airport to Mount Fanjing with nonstop flights from several major cities in China (Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou).

It is a two-hour drive from the airport to the mountain, and visitors have the option to take either a challenging ~9000-step staircase or a 20-minute cable car to the summit. Cable car service costs 280 Yuan (US$40) and a maximum of 8,000 people are allowed per day. Visitors are advised to book tickets online at the official website (www.fjsfjq.com).

Summary

Mount Fanjing is an other-worldly attraction in Wuling Mountain Range that has been added to Unesco’s list of World Heritage Sites. Award booking flights to China is easy with Star Alliance partners and I recommend obtaining a 10-year multiple-entry visa when the country opens for international tourism.
