Last year, I booked a one-way business class (used 51K Iberia Avios) on the Iberia flight from Madrid to Buenos Aires (https://awardcracker.com/a-rarely-discussed-iberia-avios-sweetspot/). We continued our trip from the Canary islands to Argentina by taking a 12 hour flight on the Iberia A350 to experience two award hotels I booked with points (the beautiful Correntoso Lake & River Small Luxury Hotel in Bariloche and Park Hyatt Mendoza).
Award Booking Madrid to Buenos Aires Flight
Iberia Premium Lounge Velazquez
We spent an hour in the Iberia Premium Lounge Velazquez in Madrid airport terminal 4S, which was located in the middle of all the perfume shops after security screening.
The Iberia Premium Lounge Velazquez is very spacious and has very good food and beverages at both ends.
Iberia Airbus A350 Business Class Suite
Iberia revamped its business class in late 2022 (designed by the German manufacturer Recaro) and it features a closable door, good storage space, type C charging ports and the ability to use your own Bluetooth head sets.
Overall Inflight Experience
I won’t upload pictures of the food I ordered during the flight, but the overall service and food quality was very good. We really enjoyed the white whine and homemade Pavlova and the flight attendant was kind enough to give us three extra Pavlova’s.
Intercontinental Buenos Aires
After landing in Buenos Aires at 9PM, we spent one night at the Intercontinental, which I booked with one of my IHG free night certificates. The stay there was amazing and surprised me since I was not expecting much from Intercontinental.
I booked a King Classic room with a free night certificate and got an email from IHG a few days before the check-in date about an upgrade to a “Premium King Room with City View” (priced over $400 per night).
Conclusion
I would love to travel again in Iberia A350 business class from Madrid to Buenos Aires and spend a few more days in the city by staying at Intercontinental or Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires (link).
