I’ve always wanted to try the new ANA premium cabins that have recently been upgraded on the B777-300ER models. The outbound leg of my two week trip to Japan was changed several times to either visit the Maldives or Nepal. After enjoying our stay at Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island (review), we finally decided to explore other Hyatt hotels in the Tokyo region instead of taking long flights to other places.
How to book two premium cabin seats on ANA with points?
ANA has stopped releasing two premium cabin seats in advance, since the COVID-19 pandemic. So, your only option is to wait for the award space to open up 1-2 weeks before your trip dates (see image below).
Why was I only looking for the HND-JFK route?
Only the HND to JFK route consistently features the newly revamped ANA business class suites, called THE Room.
However, I was able to find THE Room on a single flight on the Haneda – Chicago route (see image below) and ended up switching the booking since I have an unused CAT-4 hotel certificate that is about to expire soon.
If your business class seat selection on the aircraft extends to row 20, that means you are enjoying The Room (see image below).
Only United has access to ANA last minute premium cabin award space
To my surprise, I found that only United had access to some of the last minute ANA premium cabin award space (at least for my trip dates). I could not find any availability on Aeroplan or LifeMiles for these business class seats.
We both had enough United miles that had been sitting in our accounts for several years and we used them to complete the booking individually (see image below).
Conclusion
We were excited to finally try the ANA THE Room business class seats and get rid of our United points that were collecting dust.
