The Park Hyatt Mendoza Hotel is a beautifully restored 19th-century Spanish colonial facade that offers plush accommodation in the center of Mendoza. The hotel facilities include a spa (with a hot tub, sauna and steam bath), fitness center, casino, swimming pool and several restaurants.

Award Booking Park Hyatt Mendoza

I used Hyatt points to book a standard room and then used one of the suite upgrade certificates to reserve a Park Suite.

Park Hyatt Mendoza Lobby & Check-In

Park Hyatt Mendoza is located in a busy intersection and we drove around the front entrance to park the rental car in the underground parking lot. We then used the elevator from the basement to the lobby to check in. The front desk staff gave us the room key cards and explained the locations for breakfast, fitness center, pool and spa.

Globalist Recognition & Suite Upgrades

I did not want to miss out on the Park Suite experience during this trip and used my suite upgrade certificate. I booked an extra award night (with a free CAT 1-4 certificate) at the hotel due to a last minute flight change (https://awardcracker.com/avoid-connecting-flights-in-argentina/). The hotel graciously upgraded me to the Park Suite for that night as well and combined my stay for 7 nights. I was surprised to see that since the stays booked with free night certificates are not eligible for suite upgrade certificates. A week before my stay, the hotel concierge emailed me recognizing my Hyatt Globalist status and offered two free drinks at the bar.

Park Suite

The Park Suite has a double door entrance with a nice painting next to it.

The Park Suite is the biggest Hyatt standard suite (1,180 square feet) I have seen so far and you will be awed by the size of the living room which has a large seating area, dining table, coffee maker table, office table and a half bathroom.

Suite Bedroom

The suite bedroom has a king mattress with pillows of three different sizes and small side tables. There are no electronic blind controls or USB sockets that you typically see in the newer park Hyatt properties.

Suite Bathroom

There is only one sink in the suite bathroom and the toilet is placed too close to the wall making you sit on it sideways (the second half bath toilet is better centered). Other than that, the tub and shower areas are well designed with all the required amenities.

Breakfast

There is a large breakfast room in the entrance that opens to the front of the hotel with additional seating facing the street. The breakfast buffet is extensive and contains cereal, muesli, fruit, bread and dessert assortments. The premade scrambled eggs looked very runny and we requested fresh eggs which tasted much better. There is no private breakfast menu for globalists, but the provided breakfast is perfectly adequate.

Fitness Center

The fitness center is very good with Life Fitness equipment, enough to do a proper workout.

Sauna and Relaxation Area

The spa staff will provide you with locker keys, robes, slippers etc., to make the entire experience very pleasant. Men and women have separate saunas (dry and steam) along with whirlpool tubs in the shower area. There are distilled water stations in the main gym, relaxation room and inside the shower area next to saunas.

I used the dry sauna daily, which has enough room for three 6-feet tall people to lay down on the panels. The dry sauna was maintained at a high temperature and was very enjoyable for 30 minutes.

The locker area, showers and toilets are well maintained and I liked the wall mounted containers inside the showers with plenty of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. There is a clothes dryer in the bathroom (with instructions posted next to it) to quickly dry any wet clothes (see image below).

A separate relaxation area outside the men/women bathroom area is well designed and you can spend time there with your significant other after a hard workout/sauna session. I wish the air-conditioning in the gym/relaxation area was cooler, but the hotel maintains the whole place (walking area, reception, restaurants) at a higher temperature as a cost saving measure. I am glad the air-conditioning in the rooms has no central control and can be adjusted to your preference.

Outdoor Swimming Pool

I did not particularly like the swimming pool which is small and not designed to do laps. It is not heated during the summer months, and I doubt it will ever be as well heated as the Correntoso Lake & River Small Luxury Hotel (review). I have seen several people relaxing in the afternoon on lounge chairs around the pool.

Conclusion

Park Hyatt Mendoza is a great place to relax while exploring the wine capital of Argentina. The Park Suite is unbelievably big and beautiful (for a standard suite) and is an ideal location to use your Suite Upgrade Certificates.
