Roundtrip Flight Price Flight Award Booking Can Ferrereta Price vs Points Pros Cons
Iberia Business class: ~S6,000; Asia Miles 244K points (taxes ~$180) $400-500/ night or 21-29K Hyatt points Beautiful room decorations, customer service, and wonderful breakfast. No free parking, small gym, no bottled water provided with room service.

Can Ferrereta is an SLH property in the Santanyi region of Mallorca Island (also spelled Majorca). It is a 17th-century grand house that was converted into a 5-star hotel. We booked a 4-night stay here during our last trip to Spain. I used 21000 Hyatt points to book the hotel (category 6), which usually charges $400-500 per night.

How I Booked the Flight to Spain

I used Asia Miles to book two round-trip business class tickets on Iberia and paid 244,000 miles and $178 in taxes. I had some Asia Miles left over from a pre-COVID time and the program charges the lowest taxes on Iberia flight bookings (roundtrip booking is required). The cash flight for a similar business class roundtrip flight costs ~$6000 USD.

I would normally use Iberia Avios for Spain roundtrip booking, which would cost 100,000 Avios+
$270.18 (for peak season). Booking with Asia Miles saved $360 in taxes but I ended up spending 44,000 miles more for the redemption. I was trying to get rid of some Asia Miles and they have no other redemptions for such low taxes.

After spending 2 nights in Madrid, we took a short flight to Majorca and rented a car. It took about 45 minutes to drive to the hotel.

Can Ferrereta Parking

The hotel is very spacious inside but valet parking costs €30/day due to limited available spaces. After doing my research, I found out there is a nearby public parking (two blocks away) and I used it free for my entire stay without any problems. I suggest first coming straight to the hotel to unload all the luggage and then driving to the parking lot. A rental car is a must while visiting Majorca since it is a large island with scenic locations spread throughout. Uber charges ~$80 USD from the airport to the hotel one-way.

Can Ferrereta Hotel

The moment you step inside the reception area, you will fall in love with this place which has a beautiful interior design with extreme attention to detail. We also noticed a unique black design theme that applies to all the guest rooms, furnishings, and ornaments including the dining utensils. The reception area has a beautiful guest toilet and a nice library with a record player and fireplace. The breakfast room is near the reception and guest rooms are spread out after a large courtyard containing a pool (unheated) with several lounge chairs.

The courtyard also has a covered patio (with heaters) and a pool bar that serves food and drinks for reasonable prices. There is a very small gym with a few weights and treadmills along with another small indoor pool (heated) with a few more lounge chairs. The heated indoor pool is narrow but ~20 feet long and suitable to do laps.

Can Ferrereta Hotel Terrace Suite

The hotel upgraded our room to a “Terrace Suite” (for just being a Hyatt member) which is a spectacularly designed upstairs unit that opens to a large terrace area with its own lounge chairs. The entire room, bedding, and bathroom furnishings are of high quality.

There were a couple of issues we encountered during our stay with the lack of air-conditioning and no daily water bottles provided as part of room service. As per the hotel, the air-conditioning is only enabled in the summer season (we were there in late March) but they provided us with a large standing fan which kept the room cooler. It is unusual for a 5-star hotel to not provide any filtered or bottled water in the room since everyone on the island advises visitors to NOT drink the tap water. We ended up buying several bottles of mineral water from a grocery store which lasted our entire stay.

Dining

The hotel provided a free full-service breakfast where we order from a menu along with a buffet section for muesli, yogurts and oatmeal. The scrambled eggs were perfectly done, and the Cappuccino had a wonderful taste. There was another dining area near the pool that served tasty food, while relaxing in the covered patio lounge chairs.

Overall, the hotel staff provided top-notch customer service and made our stay very pleasant and memorable.

Recommended Day Hikes (<8 miles) In Mallorca

Some of the best hikes (https://www.alltrails.com/spain/mallorca) we did were Sóller – Fortnalux – Biniaraix, La Trapa Ruin Loop, Boquer Valley, GR®221 – Deià – Sóller, Barranc de Biniaraix – Font Cas Patró Lau – Ses Voltetes – Coll d’en Se, Volta des General – Port des Canonge via Camí de Baix. The names of these hikes can be very confusing but the views are phenomenal.

Summary

Can Ferrereta Hotel is one of the best SLH properties in Majorca and I highly recommend using your Hyatt points to book a room here and explore this beautiful island. It is easy to find Iberia award space to book flights to Spain, which has several islands to explore.
