The Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate is a 5-star SLH property in Galway, Ireland which was built in the 18th century in the middle of a 138-acre lakeside golf estate. I found the hotel when I was researching SLH properties near the Cliffs of Moher during our Ireland driving trip.
How I Booked the Flight to Dublin

We rented a car in Dublin airport and drove ~ 2 hours to reach the hotel, which is hard to see till you turn into the property through majestic-looking tall cast-iron gates. It is home to a 21 Bay Driving Range and other available activities include archery, fishing, horse riding, boating, water sports, and tennis. The main hotel has a River Room Restaurant and there is also a unique-looking Pullman Restaurant which is built inside two former carriages from the Orient Express.

The hotel staff was very helpful in bringing our luggage upstairs from the car parking area to the reception which contained several steps. The front desk upgraded us to a Superior King room for being a Hyatt member, which was really appreciated.

This hotel had a buffet breakfast (bread, oatmeal, cereal, juice, pastries) along with a full-service menu and we ordered scrambled eggs, which were done the way we liked.
Nearby Hikes and Scenery
We hiked the Knockma forest trail one day and the next day we drove ~ 90 minutes to see the famous Cliffs of Moher.
Our Ireland Road Trip Itinerary
Ireland has many viewpoints and hikes and takes a long time to drive and see them all in one trip. I suggest readers map out all the places and then find the nearest accommodation. Dublin car rental companies may charge an extra fee if you are crossing over to Northern Ireland.
Summary
The Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate is one of the best SLH properties in Galway and can be booked with Hyatt points. I highly recommend staying in this hotel for a few nights during your Ireland road trip (not far from the Cliffs of Moher).
