Saxon Switzerland is Germany’s most popular national park between Dresden & Prague containing the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The park’s natural landscape with bizarre rock formations makes it one of the most enchanting hiking areas in Europe. Dresden Airport (DRS) is the closest to the national park and Prague (PRG) airport is less than a two-hour drive.
Award booking flights to Prague
For US-based visitors, it’s easy to book award flights to Prague and then get a rental car to explore the Saxon Switzerland National Park. Flying Blue miles can be used to book a free one-way stopover in Paris if desired (review).
Prague Airport Rental Cars
Car rental prices are especially reasonable at PRG airport (Kayak) if you can drive a manual transmission (see image below).

If you don’t have a rental car or are not interested in hiking, a day trip to Saxon Switzerland can be done with several booking agencies (link).
Day trip to Adršpach-Teplice Rocks from Prague
If you have free time, I also recommend visiting Adršpach-Teplice Rocks (review) which is a two-hour drive from Prague (link).
Saxon Switzerland Hikes
Saxon Switzerland has several popular hikes listed on Komoot and AllTrails and Bastei is the most famous highlight.

Conclusion
I recommend traveling to Prague with points and plan to visit both Saxon Switzerland & Adršpach-Teplice Rocks as either day trips or by finding accommodations near them.
