We visited the Jungfrau region in Switzerland during the month of October 2021 when European travel was just getting started after the Covid 19 pandemic (review). We stayed at Bergwelt Grindelwald and at that time Hyatt was affiliated with SLH hotels.
What brought on this travel memory?
My wife was remembering the evening hot chocolate she enjoyed at this hotel after a hard day of hiking through the Alps. I was thinking about the wonderful outdoor hot tub which felt great in the evening chilly temperatures.
Bergwelt Grindelwald
Bergwelt Grindelwald is a 4-star SLH property located in the heart of the town and we stayed 6 nights using Hyatt points (20-25K points per night). As a Hyatt member, the hotel upgraded our room to a beautiful mountain view balcony room and the included daily breakfast was phenomenal.
Bergwelt Grindelwald has superb interior design, a fully equipped gym, an indoor heated swimming pool, several saunas, and a large hot tub overlooking the Alps. There is a daily covered parking lot fee of ~$32 USD and the hotel is in a perfect location to explore the Bernese Oberland.
Conclusion
I wholeheartedly recommend staying at Bergwelt Grindelwald and using it as a base to explore the Jungfrau region of Switzerland. The hotel has chosen to NOT be a part of Hilton & SLH and remains expensive to book with nightly prices ranging from $350-600 depending on the season. I recommend staying there in the first half of October, which is a low season to explore Switzerland and the weather is still perfect.
