My interest in Bilt Palladium
Bilt Palladium piqued my interest when I saw the 125% JAL March 2026 rent-day transfer bonus, exclusive to Bilt Platinum members. My goal for next year is to earn enough Bilt points (via mortgage payments and card spending with accelerators) and obtain Platinum status to take advantage of a similar promotion in the future. For this reason, I decided to consolidate all my credit card spending to Palladium instead of spreading it over several cards (e.g., Amex Gold for groceries/dining, Amex Blue Plus for non-category spend, Citi Premier for gas). You can even purchase Costco gift cards online using the Bilt Palladium Mastercard and use them in person at Costco.
My Bilt Palladium Approval
The approval was surprisingly fast, with a huge credit line, a stark contrast to the frequent denials for the Avianca credit cards from the same issuer.

Bilt Housing-only vs Flexible Bilt Cash Options
This is the first thing you must choose after activating your Bilt account, even before receiving the Palladium credit card in the mail.

Housing-only Tiered Multiplier
This is the Bilt default method, which suits most people who want to set up the mortgage payments and spend as much as possible on Bilt Palladium without constantly worrying about adding Bilt Cash Accelerators to earn additional points.
To earn points on your $3,000 monthly mortgage with the Bilt Palladium Card, you must spend between $750 and $3,750+ on everyday purchases (see table below).
| Everyday Spend Required | % of Mortgage Paid | Earning Multiplier | Points Earned |
|---|---|---|---|
| $750 | 25% | 0.5x | 1,500 points |
| $1,500 | 50% | 0.75x | 2,250 points |
| $2,250 | 75% | 1x | 3,000 points |
| $3,750+ | 125%+ | 1.25x | 3,750 points |
However, if you are spending more than your mortgage on your Palladium card, the Flexible Bilt Cash “Unlock” Strategy will yield significantly more points and Bilt Cash, which is discussed in depth below.

My mortgage and estimated monthly spending on Bilt Palladium
- My monthly mortgage is around $2500, and I rounded it up to $3000 after adding a small principal-only payment.
- Bilt provides you with a dedicated routing number and account number to create a virtual bank account for your mortgage payment, and cleverly links it with your real bank account internally, from where the funds are drawn every time you make the payment.
- The whole process works seamlessly, and you will receive a clear email communication from Bilt before the mortgage payment due date (see image below).

- I am incredibly lucky to have friends who let me pay their monthly daycare bills, and it is easy for me to spend close to $5000 every month on the Bilt Palladium card.
- It is also easy for me to spend $500 on the 1st of every month to maximize the Rent Day Double Points.
Apply Point Accelerators ASAP on Bilt Palladium
After activating the Palladium card, you will see a credit of $500 Bilt Cash in your account at the bottom of the “wallet” section.
You must enable both the “Point Accelerator” and “Unlock points on housing payments” options asap before you start making purchases or mortgage payments.
Activating the Point Accelerator is very easy, but unlocking points on housing payments requires two more steps (see images below).

Bilt Point Accelerator Exclusions
Bilt T&C has an extensive list of exclusions, but supports purchases made with Apple Pay and Google Pay (easy to add the Palladium card to a family member’s digital wallet instead of getting an AU card (see image below).

Can you pay rent via the portal and pay transaction fees with Bilt Palladium?
- Bilt Palladium can be used like any other credit card to pay rent via rental agency portals after applying the transaction fees (2.5-3.5%).
- While traditional mortgage and rent payments via ACH do not count towards the eligible spend to trigger a bonus or status, paying rent with transaction fees does trigger both.
- Bilt Cash 1X accelerator will also be applied to rent paid via the agency portals (plus transaction fees)
- I paid a friend’s rent for the month I signed up for Bilt Palladium, which triggered the sign-on bonus, Gold elite status, Bilt Cash, and an additional 1X-Point Accelerator (see images below).

You must remember to manually re-enable the Point Accelerator every time after completing $5000 in purchases (maximum 5 times per calendar year)
- The exact moment your card purchases hit that $5,000 threshold, the token immediately expires.
- Any subsequent transactions drop back to the baseline 2x earning rate until you manually click to buy the next token.
- You must manually activate the accelerator token every time you complete a $5,000 spending loop (see image below).
- The Bilt Rewards app does not feature an auto-renewal toggle or automatic rollover mechanism.

Watch Big Transactions
- If you have $500 remaining on your current accelerator tracker and you charge a single $2,500 flight, only the first $500 of that transaction will receive the 3x accelerator rate.
- The remaining $2,000 will instantly drop to the 2x base rate because the token expired mid-transaction.
- You cannot retroactively apply a new token to that transaction balance.
- Check your current tracker progress; if it is near $5,000, push through minor everyday retail purchases (to intentionally exhaust the tracker), manually purchase your next $200 Bilt Cash token, and then clear the way for your major upcoming charges.
- For example, I paid $1865.60 for an upcoming Airbnb stay when I was $835 short of completing the 1st $5,000 accelerator. I ended up getting an additional 1X point for that amount (835 points), and the remaining amount earned the standard 2X points (see image below).

Rent Day (1st of every month) bonus
On Rent Day (the 1st of the month), everyday spending doubles to 4x points (2x base points + 2x bonus points) with a cap of 1,000 points per month. Spending exactly $500 on Rent Day maxes out this bonus ($500 × 2x bonus = 1,000 points).
Here is exactly how the math breaks down for both spending thresholds:
| Spend Amount | Base Points (2x) | Rent Day Bonus (2x) | Total Points Earned | Effective Multiplier |
| $250 | 500 points | 500 points | 1,000 points | 4x points |
| $500 | 1,000 points | 1,000 points (Cap Hit) | 2,000 points | 4x points |
| $600 | 1,200 points | 1,000 points (Maxed) | 2,200 points | 3.66x points |
Up to 5X Neighbourhood Bilt Dining
I was genuinely surprised to see a ton of restaurants that earn 3+2 points (+1 from the accelerator) after using the Bilt card, without needing to make any reservations (link). Most of the time, I get an instant Bilt App notification about the extra points, but not always. It may take up to seven (7) days after eating at a local partner restaurant for the bonus points to post to a member’s Bilt account. There will be some missed occasions where I only earn 3x points (unless I reach out to customer service), but I am still happy to see the enhanced dining earnings.

Some neighbourhood dining purchases earn an additional 5X points (a total of 8 points before the accelerator)

Bilt $25-$50 Dining Partners & Dining Experience Credits
I am not able to use these credits in my neighbourhood, but they can offer good value for those living in major metropolitan cities.

The December 31 Hard Reset
- Your 5 annual accelerator token activations are tied to the calendar year.
- Any active token you are working on, along with your allotment of 5 tokens, expires at midnight on December 31st, regardless of whether your December statement closes in the middle of January.
- Bilt Cash Expiration: Because Bilt Cash operates on a calendar schedule, your accrued balance must be used before the end of the year, and only $100 of Bilt Cash can be rolled over to the next year.
- The One Exception is Housing/Rent Multipliers: If you are tracking your everyday spending to qualify for a higher point multiplier on your rent or mortgage payment, that specific calculation runs on your statement billing cycle.
Rent Day Transfer Bonuses
- The Cost: $75-150 Bilt Cash (variable every month)
- During specific Rent Day promotional windows, you can use Bilt Cash to “buy up” your elite status tier multiplier.
- As a Gold member (who usually receives a 75% Rent Day bonus), you can redeem $75-150 in Bilt Cash to unlock the Platinum-level bonus, which brings you to 100%.
- Going beyond 100% (to a 125% or 150% super-boosted bonus) is a privilege exclusively reserved for native Platinum members who use their own Bilt Cash to tack on an additional boost.
My projected Bilt Point earnings for the next 12 months
With a monthly spend of $3,000 on mortgage and $5,000 on everyday purchases (including $500 on the 1st day of the month for rent day bonus) using the Bilt Palladium Card:
I enabled the Point Accelerator on May 17th and noticed it was retroactively applied to the prior transactions from May 15th & 16th (see image below).

Reward Comparison Annual Earnings Breakdown (without including the sign-on bonus)
| Reward Component | Option A: Housing-Only | Option B: Flexible Bilt Cash(With Max Accelerators) |
| Everyday Spend Base Points ($60k @ 2X) | 120,000 Bilt Points | 120,000 Bilt Points |
| Rent Day bonus 1000 points x 12 (spend $500 on the 1st of every month) | 12,000 Bilt Points | 12,000 Bilt Points |
| Neighbourhood Dining X 3 extra points ($500 x12) | 18,000 Bilt Points | 18,000 Bilt Points |
| Point Accelerator Bonus (+1X on $25k) | $0 (Ineligible) | +25,000 Bilt Points |
| Everyday Spend Bilt Cash ($60k @ 4%) | $0 | +$2,400 Bilt Cash |
| Mortgage Points ($36k total spend) | 45,000 Bilt Points (1.25X) | 36,000 Bilt Points (1X max) |
| Palladium Card Annual Credit | +$200 Bilt Cash | + $200 Bilt Cash |
| Elite Milestone Bonus ($50 for every 25000 points earned) | +$100 | +$100 |
| Bilt Cash Spent on Accelerators | $0 | -$1,000 Bilt Cash (5 activations) |
| Bilt Cash Spent to Unlock Mortgage | $0 (Automatic) | -$1,080 Bilt Cash ($30 per 1k) |
| Total Annual Net Yield | 195,000 Points + $300 Bilt Cash | 211,000 Points + $620 Bilt Cash |
This strategy yields a $620 Bilt Cash surplus ($2,700 − $1,080 − $1,000 = $620) that can be used on Grubhub, Lyft rides, Walgreens purchases, fitness classes, or Bilt Travel portal bookings to maximize the value before December 31st of every year (only $100 Bilt Cash can be transferred over to the next year).

How to maintain Bilt Gold or Platinum status with Palladium?
When you first sign up for the Bilt Palladium Card and meet the welcome offer requirement (spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 90 days), the complimentary Bilt Gold status lasts for the remainder of the calendar year in which you earned it, plus the entire following calendar year (see image below).

To requalify for either status, you need to clear one of the two pathways listed below within a single calendar year (between January 1st and December 31st).
| Elite Status Tier | Pathway 1: Fast-Track Spending | Pathway 2: Qualifying Points |
| Bilt Gold | $25,000 in eligible spend | 125,000 qualifying points |
| Bilt Platinum | $50,000 in eligible spend | 200,000 qualifying points |
| Do monthly rent and mortgage ACH payments count? | No | Yes |
| What are the eligible non-ACH purchases? | Any spend on your Palladium card, including rent payments via portals (after paying transaction fees), Bilt Dining, Bilt Travel portal, or linked Lyft rides and SoulCycle/fitness classes booked in the Bilt app. | |
Bilt Platinum Status benefits
Once you step up to Bilt Platinum status, the validity timeline follows the same calendar-year logic as Gold. The status lasts for the remainder of the calendar year in which you earned it, all of the following calendar year, and officially expires on January 15th of the year after that.
Highest Rent Day Transfer Bonuses:
During tiered Rent Day promotions, Platinum members receive the highest multiplier. For example, during certain promotions, Platinum members receive a 100%-150% transfer bonus.
Air France-KLM Flying Blue Gold Status Match (SkyTeam Elite Plus)
- Once you attain Bilt Platinum, you can unlock 12 months of Flying Blue Gold Status by simply transferring 10,000 Bilt Points into your Flying Blue account via the Bilt App.
- The 10,000 points remain yours to spend as Flying Blue miles, making the elite status upgrade effectively free.
- Because Flying Blue Gold automatically includes the SkyTeam Elite Plus global status, your perks immediately extend to partner airlines such as Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air, and Saudia.
- International Lounge Access: You and one guest gain complimentary access to any SkyTeam Lounge worldwide when booking an international flight. This includes premium Air France lounges in Paris (CDG) and Delta Sky Clubs when flying itineraries that cross a border.
- SkyPriority Ground Service: You bypass standard lines entirely with dedicated priority check-in, priority baggage handling, expedited security lanes, and Zone 2 priority boarding.
- Free Seat Selection: You receive complimentary standard seat selection when booking on Air France and KLM. On Delta, you receive a 50% discount on Delta Comfort+ seats.
- Extra Baggage Allowance: You get one additional checked bag completely free on any SkyTeam flight worldwide.
The BLADE Helicopter Perk
Bilt Platinum status grants you one complimentary BLADE helicopter flight per calendar year. This allows you to fly over highway traffic between Manhattan (the West 30th Street or East 34th Street heliports) and JFK or Newark (EWR) airports.
Should you add an authorized user card ($95) to your Bilt Palladium?
Unless your authorized user frequently travels separately and needs it for Priority Pass lounge access, you should not put any spending on the AU card due to the following reasons:
- When pooling the Palladium AU’s spend to the primary account, it does not count towards the primary cardholder’s 1X accelerator.
- While every day spending on the AU card natively earns its standard base points (such as 2X), it will not trigger the sign-on bonus for the primary cardholder.
- Less heavy spenders (e.g., 50K per year): after spending on the AU card with 1X Accelerator, the extra 1X bonus point is strictly tied to the specific Bilt Rewards profile that purchased and activated that token. As you max out the AU card’s $25,000 accelerator track, 25,000 of those bonus points will be trapped in the AU’s separate Bilt account (with Bilt Gold status from spending 25K/year).
- Heavy spenders (e.g., 100K per year) can double down on separate accelerator quotas (one for the primary account and one for the AU account) by not pooling the points & cash. Both accounts will qualify for Bilt Platinum status (by spending 50K/year on each card), and points can be transferred independently to partners on rent-day bonus specials.
How easy is it to use the hotel credits from Bilt Palladium?
- As long as you book hotels for 2 nights and apply the credits semiannually, you can stack them to cover a 4-night stay on your next trip (e.g., book a 2-night stay on June 30th and another at the same hotel on July 1st).
- Bilt Hotel bookings can be combined with Bilt Points, annual hotel credits, and Bilt Cash at checkout.
- When you book a qualifying hotel through the Bilt Travel Portal using your Bilt Palladium Card, you will earn an additional 2X bonus points on top of your card’s standard 2X earnings (a total of 4X points).
- I was looking to book a 2-night stay at El Chalten in February 2027, and found several places to use the hotel credits (see image below).

I compared prices on Booking.com, where prices are a bit cheaper due to my Booking.com Genius discount (see image below).

Conclusion
So far, it has been a lot of fun learning about the benefits and quirks of the Bilt Palladium credit card, and I will update the post with my experiences and lessons learned. I may not be able to utilize all of the Bilt Hotel credits ($200 x 2 Q6months or $100 monthly from accumulated Bilt cash), but it will all be worth it in the end to earn 100K Bilt points and transfer them with a 100% bonus to JAL or Avios as 200K points. There is no other transferable point-earning credit card at this time that earns points for paying rent/mortgage and allows you to transfer the points with frequent 100% bonuses.
